The UC Consortium for Language Learning & Teaching (UCCLLT) received a grant (USDE P017A050017-01) from the International Research and Studies program of the U.S. Department of Education in 2005 to create a state-of-the-art year-long course that will serve the needs of existing traditional classroom courses in Punjabi. This project will also produce a distributable DVD-ROM master class in Punjabi in Year Two, and will be available for distribution through the internet by the conclusion of Year Three. Professor Gurinder Singh Mann, UC Santa Barbara, is the course designer, and Professor Robert J. Blake, Director of the UCCLLT, is the principal investigator. Punjabi: face-to-face and at a distance is under development and will be offered for the first time in Fall 2008 from UC Santa Barbara. UC students from all campuses will be able to register for the course using cross-registration for system-wide courses.
